Never pay for help filing VA claims. Accredited Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) help for free, and nobody should charge you to apply for CHAMPVA. Before you share your information, check the person in VA's accreditation search.

- DAV (Disabled American Veterans): free benefits help from national service officers.
- VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars): free claims help through its service officers.
- The American Legion: free benefits help from service officers.
- AMVETS: free claims and benefits help.
- Paralyzed Veterans of America: benefits help, focused on veterans with spinal cord injury or disease.
- Wounded Warrior Project: free programs and benefits help for post-9/11 wounded veterans and their families.
Family, caregiver, and survivor support
- Military OneSource: free counseling and support; 800-342-9647. Eligibility note: veterans and their immediate families can use it only until 365 days after discharge or retirement (eligibility details).
- VA Caregiver Support Program: support and training for family caregivers. Caregiver Support Line: 855-260-3274.
- TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors): 24/7 support for anyone grieving a military or veteran loss; 800-959-8277.
- Elizabeth Dole Foundation: programs and community for military and veteran caregivers.
